CASE STUDY — POELMANN VAN DEN BROEK ADVOCATEN

As a law firm with 45 years’ experience advising and supporting clients across a wide range of sectors, who better than Poelmann van den Broek advocaten to judge how the Viewprime monitor arm performs when it comes to the laws of ergonomics.

A change of space

In the spring of 2021, Poelmann van den Broek moved into two floors in a new office building on the edge of Nijmegen. Interior architect Jos Bogaerts created a floor plan tailored to the needs of Poelmann van den Broek’s employees. Where previously everyone had their own cubicle, the new offices offer a mix of open plan ‘concentration’ zones and small one- and two-person rooms for phone calls and consultations. The previous clustering by specialisms has been abandoned. For all staff, these new hybrid spaces are an exciting new way of working.

At Dataflex, we realise we are just one part of a larger whole, and that there are many facets to good ergonomics. So it’s great to see the Viewprime being used in a work environment where an eye for every aspect — from lighting, acoustics, walk routes and planting to workplace variety, clean desks and the right ambiance have all been pulled together to create a really conducive working environment.

Facilitating the modern law practice

Having entered the building’s communal space, a left turn brings the visitor into a genuinely welcoming reception area with bar and atmospheric lounge. This is also where the meeting rooms for groups up to twenty people are located. Behind this reception area is another meeting room that can accommodate up to 150 people, also with a bar where colleagues can meet, have lunch or hold talks.

The workplace is divided into quadrants connected by a living room area at the centre. So that from the living room, you enter a workspace where you are immediately struck by the spaciousness and diversity of workplaces. A large worktable in the middle surrounded by both open workplaces and workplaces for concentration.

The desks are all equipped with sit-stand height adjustment, which is where the Viewprime monitor arm really comes into its own. Because ultimately, working for a law firm simply involves long and intensive hours using a computer, putting a high static load on one’s body. Because it doesn’t matter how aesthetically pleasing an office interior is, if it doesn’t address every aspect of ergonomic working it is likely to lead to problems in the future.

The obvious choice

Supervised by projectmanager Arnoud Schoffelmeer, the realisation of the project was in the hands of Ideska, who were responsible not only for the walls, floors and ceilings, but also the furniture. William Bos (Dataflex) had recently introduced the Viewprime at Ideska, and its success there made it the obvious choice for Poelmann van den Broek. Not only does its versatility mean the Viewprime can be used in different types of workspaces and contexts, the key criterion for Poelmann van den Broek was ease-of-setup and user-friendliness, and the Viewprime passes that test with flying colours.

The demands of a dynamic workspace

To get a good idea of where the monitor arms would be used, drawings were provided in advance of the duo desk with acoustic wall. Because the desk’s cable tray was quite close to the end of the desktop, a double Viewprime with S-clamp was chosen, which ensures the Viewprime requires minimal mounting space. For the landing spots, a leaf feed clamp was chosen. This creates maximum workspace and from an aesthetic viewpoint is barely visible.

The Viewprime is fairly new to the Dataflex collection, but this project proves once again its functionality and manoeuvrability, as well as facilitating a safe and healthy work environment. The photos here demonstrate how offices with a wide variety of workplaces are no problem for the Viewprime, which can be adapted easily to the user’s changing posture, making it the ideal solution for a dynamic workspace.
